LPS22 Student Grants

To apply for the Grant, you must provide the following information:

• Personal and Contact Information
• CV (pdf)
• Copy of your ID document
• A proof from your University (located in one of the EU Member States) that you are enrolled as a full-time MSc, PhD or PostDoc student
• Cover letter detailing your motivation to attend the Living Planet Symposium, what you hope to learn there and why you consider yourself a good candidate to be sponsored. Please reference your ability to promote LPS22 sessions and outcomes before and after the conference.
• If you submitted an abstract or a poster to the LPS22 please provide the assigned abstract ID or title.

The deadline for application is 13 May 2022.

Terms and Conditions for Participation in the EC Student Grant for the Living Planet 2022 Symposium

Eligibility to apply for grant

In order to be eligible to apply for the LPS22 Student Grant:

• at the time of application, the applicant must be enrolled as a full-time MSc, PhD student or a PostDoc researcher in a University in one of the EU Member States,
• the applicant must demonstrate that their University research, studies, thesis or project work is directly relevant to one or more of the Symposium session topics,
• applicants who have submitted an abstract to LPS22 and have been accepted either as oral or poster presentation at the Symposium are particularly welcomed to apply.

Extent and method of sponsorship

The LPS22 Student Grant sponsorship is intended to cover the cost of participating student’s economy travel fare from designated departure points to the conference location as well as cost of accommodation, local transport and other living expenses.

The student awarded the Grant can claim a maximum sum of 700 Euro as a partial reimbursement of his or her costs.

The Grant will be paid out after the LPS22 conference and this pay-out will be based on demonstrated expenses (i.e. originals receipts).

In all cases students will be responsible for the arrangement of their own travel to LPS22, their registration to LPS22 and living arrangements in Bonn.

They will also have to make their own arrangements for passports, visas, travel insurance and medical insurance.

For reimbursement students must provide all the required documents, confirmations and receipts in a timely manner for processing (maximum 6 weeks after the symposium).

Conditions of sponsorship

Students who are selected for and accept LPS22 Student Grant conditions commit to taking the following actions:

• During the Symposium
• Attend LPS22 sessions, especially Copernicus-related sessions,
• Promote LPS22 in social media and other available outlets,

• At the end of the conference
• Participate to the post-conference survey
• Report their experience and promote LPS22 objectives in their respective communities

Liability

Applicants must act, at all times, in such a manner that is consistent with EU’s reputation and statute and does not hinder EU’s reputation and status or the reputation and envisaged positive impact of the LPS22.

The EU shall not be held liable for any damage, including:

• bodily injury to, or other impairment of health of, or death of, any person;
• damage to, loss of, or loss of use of any property;
• loss of revenue or profits; or
• other direct, indirect, or consequential damage caused by the student participating in the event.

Students are not covered by any EU medical or travel insurance and are required to make appropriate arrangements for their own medical, repatriation and travel insurance, including coverage for loss of, or damage to, their belongings. EU reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without prior notice.
